Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
This policy explains how GetDataSavvy collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit getdatasavvy.com, contact me or book a course. I take your privacy seriously and only collect what I need.
Who I am
GetDataSavvy is run by David Remon. I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact me about anything in this policy at david@getdatasavvy.com.
What information I collect
- Enquiries: your name, email address and anything you include in your message when you use a contact form or email me.
- Course bookings: your name, email address, organisation, and the details needed to invoice you and arrange your sessions.
- Blog comments: if you leave a comment, your name, email address, comment and IP address.
- Technical information: like most websites, my hosting provider automatically records basic information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the site running.
I do not collect any special category data (such as health information) and I do not knowingly collect information from children.
How I use your information
- To reply to your enquiry and answer your questions.
- To arrange and deliver training you have booked, including sending joining links and course materials.
- To send invoices and keep financial records.
- To keep the website secure and working properly.
I will not use your details for marketing unless you have asked to hear from me, and you can opt out at any time.
My legal basis for using your information
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), I rely on:
- Contract: when I need your information to provide training you have booked.
- Legitimate interests: when I respond to your enquiries and keep my website secure.
- Legal obligation: when I need to keep financial records.
- Consent: for any marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who I share your information with
I never sell your personal information. I only share it with trusted services I use to run my business, such as:
- my website hosting provider, which stores the website and any form submissions;
- Microsoft, which provides Teams for live sessions and my email service;
- my bank or payment provider, when you pay an invoice;
- an accountant or HMRC, where required for tax purposes.
Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where this happens, I make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
How long I keep your information
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 12 months.
- Booking and invoicing records: six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, to meet tax requirements.
- Blog comments: until the comment is removed.
Cookies
This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress may set a small number of essential cookies, for example to remember your details if you choose to when leaving a comment. These are not used to track you.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you;
- ask me to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask me to delete your information;
- ask me to restrict or stop using your information;
- object to how I use your information;
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere.
To use any of these rights, email me at david@getdatasavvy.com. I will respond within one month.
Keeping your information safe
I use secure, reputable services and take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
Complaints
